NEW NETWORKS FOR NATURE

NEW NETWORKS FOR NATURE

Living on the Edge An exhibition about the natural environment by nationally known artists, to coincide with Annual symposium of New Networks for Nature.

Venue Stamford Arts Centre

When Tue 12 Nov – Thu 28 Nov

Since 2009, New Networks for Nature have organised a series of events designed to explore new perspectives in our cultural and creative responses to birds, nature and wildlife, and to challenge certain narrowly defined but prevailing views on the environment. The meetings draw together a wide cross-section of individuals and institutions, whose professional work and private lives draw inspiration from the natural world.
Our 2013 event, Nature Matters in Time and Place, again takes place in the beautiful Lincolnshire town of Stamford, at the Stamford Arts Centre and Theatre. Lively, entertaining and thought-provoking sessions are spread over three days, from Thursday 14th to Saturday 16th November 2013.

Movies @ Stamford Arts Centre; Beginners (15)

Beginners (15) Showing Mon 29 through to Wed 31 Aug. 8pm @ Stamford Arts Centre

Dir: Mike Mills USA 2010 1hr 55mins
Starring: Ewan McGregor, Melanie Laurent, Christopher Plummer

From writer/director Mike Mills comes a comedy/drama about how deeply funny and transformative life can be, even at its most serious moments.
Beginners imaginatively explores the hilarity, confusion, and surprises of love through the evolving consciousness of Oliver who meets the irreverent and unpredictable Anna only months after his father has passed away. This new love floods Oliver with memories of his father who – following 44 years of marriage – came out of the closet at age 75 to live a full, energized, and wonderfully tumultuous gay life.
The upheavals of Hal's new honesty, by turns funny and moving, brought father and son closer than they'd ever been able to be. Now Oliver endeavours to love Anna with all the bravery, humour, and hope that his father taught him.
